Yanelys Núñez Leyva (b. Havana, 1989) is a Cuban art historian, communicator, and curator, living in exile in Madrid, Spain since 2019. Her political and dissident awakening began within the collective of contributors to Havana Times magazine (2012) and through her collaboration with artist and current political prisoner Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara. Since 2014, they have co-created several artistic projects, including the #00 Havana Biennial (2018) and the Museum of Dissidence in Cuba (2016).
She is a founding member of the Movimiento San Isidro (MSI) (2018), a collective of artists and activists whose use of the body, political communication, and creative collaboration has formed a shared platform for the defense of human and cultural rights on the island. She currently works as coordinator of the Gender Observatory at Alas Tensas magazine, where she monitors various forms of violence against women in Cuba and leads communication efforts centered on critical narratives about the Cuban regime.
