Guidelines of assistance

Humanitarian Picture Books addresses the lack of legal work opportunities for refugees and aims to make them less dependent on humanitarian aid. They counterbalance this dependency and restore dignity by employing refugees as poets, illustrators, cultural advisors, art facilitators, interpreters, and translators.

Description

Humanitarian Picture Books is the first platform dedicated to closing the gap in empowering picture books for crisis-affected kids. Their flagship program is with the Rohingya community in Kutupalong, Bangladesh, the largest refugee camp complex in the world. Through creative expression, investment in refugee artists, and co-creation of empathetic picture books that reflect their culture and experiences, we empower crisis-affected communities as the authors of their own stories.
