Guidelines of assistance

The Beverly Rogers, Carol C. Harter Black Mountain Institute City of Asylum fellowship provides sanctuary for writers whose voices are muffled by censorship and who are living with the threat of imprisonment or assassination.

Description

Led by executive director Joshua Wolf Shenk, BMI brings writers, and the literary imagination, into the heart of public life, by advancing work at the intersection of lyrical beauty and global significance. City of Asylum program was founded in 2001, the first such program in the United States. Since its inception, the BMI City of Asylum program has provided safe haven to Hossein M. Abkenar, Moniro Ravanipour, Er Tai Gao, and Syl Cheney-Coker.
