Defending Creative Voices: Protection of Artists in Times of Emergencies,
UN Headquarters, NY, 2024
Building on UNESCO’s report Defending Creative Voices: Artists in Emergencies, learning from the Safety of Journalists, and ARC’s publication, Art Is Power: 20 Artists on How They Fight for Justice and Inspire Change, this event raised awareness among UN Member States and civil society actors about the impact of emergency situations on writers and artists, and called for enhanced coordination and comprehensive efforts to defend artistic freedom during crises.

Endangered Artists Summit
In May and June 2024, ARC and Art at a Time Like This presented the Dangerous Art, Endangered Artists summit. With engaging interdisciplinary discussions, keynote speeches, and artistic interventions, the summit underscored the global censorship artists face, while promoting unity and resilience within the creative community to uphold artistic freedom and defend human rights.

Palestine Cinema Days

ARC is co-organizing two screenings with Acción Palestina Chiapas in Chiapas, Mexico, and the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. Acción Palestina Chiapas raises awareness of human rights abuses faced by Palestinians, connecting Mexicans with Middle Eastern realities. In Michigan, the Arab American National Museum—dedicated to telling Arab American stories—has been a center for organized advocacy, with artists and cultural workers calling on leaders to support a ceasefire.
