ARC x Res Artis: Residencies as Refuge
Online
Wednesday 15 April & Thursday 16 April 2026
3:00PM & 9:00PM UTC
Online
ARC and Res Artis are hosting an online workshop focussed on how to effectively host artists-at-risk. In this 90-minute session, we will examine the social and political contexts that place artists in this position – and how these differing situations require different responses. We will outline the existing structures of support, their gaps, and the vital role that residencies can play. Our discussion will address two key modes in which residencies can host artists-at-risk: hosting artists-at-risk who will return to their countries and hosting artists-at-risk who do not wish to return to their countries.
ARC’s Africa Regional Representative Sam Brakarsh and Tunisian actor, director, and cultural engineer Ahmed Mourad Khanfir have co-designed the workshop with Res Artis and will be facilitating the sessions as a three part programme in order to build the skills and capacity within the residency sector. Subsequent sessions will focus on developing an ecosystem of local support and bringing artists back to their work. We are offering two time slots. Please look at the following links to calculate the time in your time zone.
Session 1: Wednesday April 15 @ 3pm UTC
Session 2: Thursday April 16 @ 9pm UTC
Registration is essential and will close April 10. A zoom link will be sent to your email address in the days prior to the workshop. The sessions will be delivered in English.
