Ahmel Echevarría (b. Havana, 1974). Narrator, art and literary critic. In 2024, he was awarded the Cintas Foundation Fellowship in Creative Writing for his novel project Los perros. His published novels include Días de entrenamiento (Franz Kafka Prize, 2010; FRA, Czech Republic, 2012), Búfalos camino al matadero (José Soler Puig Prize, 2012; Oriente, 2013), La noria (Ítalo Calvino Novel Prize, 2012; Unión, 2013; Literary Critics’ Award, 2013), and Caballo con arzones (Alejo Carpentier Novel Prize, 2017; Letras Cubanas, 2017; Literary Critics’ Award, 2017).
His opinion pieces have been published in Istor: revista de historia internacional, Hostos Review / Revista Hostosiana, Quimera, Revista Recial, New England Review, and Review: Literature and Arts of the Americas. He collaborates with the digital magazine Rialta Magazine and El Toque, and is the author of the column “Por la ruta de la seda” in Hypermedia Magazine.
