ARC @ Censurados Film Festival 2025

Virtual Session

ARC is pleased to participate in the Censurados Film Festival 2025, a space that celebrates cinema and critical reflection in contexts of censorship and repression. This festival brings together filmmakers, cultural managers, and activists to discuss challenges and strategies for defending cinema and freedom of expression.

Panel: Scope, Protocols, and Care for Cultural Managers and Audiences

In this virtual session, Alessandro Zagato, Latin America Regional Representative for ARC, will deliver a presentation titled “Caring to Create: Security Protocols in Cultural Management and the Arts.” His presentation will address strategies and protocols to protect at-risk artists in Latin America, including tools to promote artistic freedom of expression in challenging environments.

Participants

Leandro Martínez

Leandro Martínez (Chaco, Argentina, 1997) is a cultural manager and producer. He is the General Coordinator of the Multimedia Institute of Human Rights for Latin America and the Caribbean (@imd.org.ar), a non-profit organization that organizes the International Human Rights Film Festival (@festivalficdh) and the International Environmental Film Festival (@FestivalFINCA) in Argentina, where he oversees general production. He also coordinates the Events department at EXPLOZION, a creative production company with a regional impact focused on diversity, accessibility, and sustainability.

Paula Chávez López

Paula Chávez López is a communicator and visual anthropologist from PUCP, with a specialization in sound engineering from IS Orson Welles and EICTV San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba. She has also studied psychoanalytic psychotherapy at CPPL. She is the CEO of Willay Audio & Video and a producer at Fade Out. Over the past 20 years, she has collaborated in the sound area of more than 70 film and video productions, as well as in radio and educational projects. She has been teaching at various higher education institutions since 2009 and practicing as a therapist since 2023.

Alessandro Zagato

Alessandro Zagato is the Latin America Regional Representative for the Artists at Risk Connection (ARC), where he develops initiatives that promote artistic freedom and human rights across the region. Before joining ARC, he worked as an academic researcher at the University of Bergen, Norway. He is the founder of the Research Group in Arts and Politics (GIAP) and its associated residency center, Casa Giap, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among international artists and researchers in Chiapas, Mexico.
