Emergency support

ARC provides critical emergency support to artists and cultural workers at risk by offering tailored assistance to ensure their safety, well-being, and ability to continue their work safely. This support includes connecting artists to relocation programs, facilitating emergency relocation, offering financial aid for urgent needs, and providing guidance and resources to help them navigate crises.

Through a last-resort grant program, ARC addresses immediate needs of artists and their families in crisis. These grants, ranging from $500 to $2,000 USD, are designed to cover essential expenses such as food, utilities, rent, security, medical and mental health care, legal representation, and travel. Applications are accepted exclusively from artists and cultural workers across all disciplines.

ARC’s emergency grant scheme is limited. While our team is actively fundraising in the hopes of meeting the scale of our demand, ARC can, in the meantime, provide referral support by connecting at-risk artists and cultural workers to partner organizations and resources that can help address their needs.

ARC’s approach to emergency support is grounded in collaboration with a global network of partners, ensuring comprehensive and culturally sensitive solutions for those facing threats due to their art or expression. This aligns with ARC’s broader advocacy call to recognize artists as a vulnerable group, emphasizing the unique risks they face and the critical need for tailored support and protection while also fostering an accountable and socially responsive framework that upholds their rights and ensures their voices are valued in society.

Capacity

Please note that ARC acts as a critical connector between artists and the organizations that offer direct support to help persecuted artists, including emergency and resilience funding and legal and relocation assistance. Given our team’s limited capacity, we can only assist artists who have been threatened directly due to their creative work.

Confidentiality

Your information will be kept strictly confidential and will only be shared with your explicit consent. However, since ARC primarily serves as a referral organization and connector, we will need your permission to share details about your situation with our trusted partners in order to provide effective assistance.
