Description
PEN International emerged in Nicaragua as an initiative of the Panamanian-Nicaraguan writer Gloria Guardia, who by 2000 was serving as world vice president of that organization. The opening of PEN International in Nicaragua was approved at the World PEN Assembly that took place in Moscow, Russia, in September 2000. In Nicaragua, since its formal start in 2000, PEN has organized different activities inherent to its mission.
