The Carnegie Fund for Authors awards grants to U.S. authors who have been published by a mainstream publisher and who are in need of emergency funds due to illness or injury to themselves or a family member. It accepts applications "from any American author who has written at least one book of reasonable length that has been published commercially and received reader acceptance."
